On June 6th EFCWest, in partnership with USEPA Region 9 will be hosting a multi-stakeholder workshop in El Centro, California to explore opportunities to finance asthma care. According to the Los Angeles Times, Imperial County leads the state in treatment of children with asthma. Children in the region are far more likely than those elsewhere to go to the ER or be hospitalized for the chronic respiratory disease. Experts don't know why. At the same time, in-home asthma care can help families identify asthma triggers and support efforts to reduce asthma attacks. Finding a solution to long-term sustainable financing for in-home care is a critical need.
